News: -- It looks like this wasn't the best day to be away from the computer. Apple released OS X 10.1.2 this evening, and I have it up and running on my PowerBook now after downloading it through the Software Update panel in System Preferences. The biggest improvement for me - for the first time since moving to OS X more than a year ago with the Public Beta, my PC Card adapter for loading images from my Compact Flash card into the computer from my Nikon Coolpix 900. It works much faster than the USB contraption I have been using for the last three months...[posted at 10:17 p.m. PDT]

Sunday, December 16, 2001 I downloaded the new Developer Tools package from Apple last night so that I could take a look at AppleScript Studio, and although I am admittedly not a programmer, I can sure see a lot of potential for developing custom applications that tie in AppleScript with these tools. Maybe this will be the inspiration I need to create something myself!

-- There is now a news page for users of Radio Userland, the Weblog and content management application from Dave Winer and Userland Software. Dave announced late last week that Radio 7.1 will run natively under OS X and that it should ship shortly after the holiday season. This is great news! I have been hand-coding Mac Net Journal every day since June, and I may make the switch back to Radio when the OS X version hits the Net. Yes, it will cost me something, but Dave says he plans to price the first for-pay version of Radio at less than $100, and that is good enough for me. Now I will just have to figure out how to integrate the things that I do now in Mac Net Journal into the architecture of Radio - an architecture that I found too limiting to use earlier this year...[posted at 11:44 a.m. PDT]
