About Mac Net Journal
Mac Net Journal is an Internet publication with roots in the early days of the Net. White Rabbit Publishing owners Rob McNair-Huff and Natalie McNair-Huff took over publication of the Macintosh zine in 1995, after founder Aaron Anderson handed over the publication. At that time, MNJ was distributed two ways - as an e-mail attachment formatted in the Docmaker application that was sent to thousands of Mac subscribers and through online archives and Gopher servers like Info-Mac. Some of those early publications of MNJ can still be found by searching for the terms "Mac Net Journal" on search engines such as Google.
In about 1997, Natalie and I stopped publishing monthly editions of Mac Net Journal. Our work took a turn to the busy side over the next three years and although I still wrote individual articles about the Mac here and there through those years.
I didn't revive Mac Net Journal until 2000, when the Weblog phenomenon and the introduction of easy-to-manage Web writing programs came on the market. I originally revived MNJ as a Blogger Weblog, then in early 2001 I moved to Userland Software's Radio program for a few months before opting to hand code the pages in BBEdit for a few months. At the beginning on 2002 with the introduction of Radio 8.0 for OS X I once again moved production of Mac Net Journal's daily Mac news to this fine content management software.
Mac Net Journal is published daily and since the beginning of 2002 it has grown to draw more readers than even the old e-mailed MNJ had back in the mid-1990s! I still write about the same things that I did back at the beginning - offering news, tips and reviews of products that will make using the Mac easier for doing real work. I use a variety of Macs in my home office and I know some of the issues that can come up while doing business with a Mac. I want to pass that information along to others and to set up a dialog with those readers who want to talk back.
Mac Net Journal remains a publication of White Rabbit Publishing, a business based in Washington state. Learn more about White Rabbit Publishing and our services here.
