Senator's death could be a blow to privacy rights

Waterchalking? Ferries will offer Wi-Fi
80211b News reports: Washington State ferry system to get continuous Wi-Fi: Don't ask me why the local papers (I'm based in Seattle) don't have this story, and Alan Reiter found it in Computerworld, but it's an interesting one to say the least. The Washington State ferry system carries 15,000 daily commuters, and they believe they've got the right audience to use a Wi-Fi service. They certainly do--especially if it will work in the waiting line and on the boats. Many drivers have to wait 1 to 2 hours to get on a ferry, and if they could be productive during that time, well, it might shave some time off the rest of their working day, no? [via Alan Reiter]

One benefit of the newest Mozilla builds
Mozilla continues to be a slower browser for me running on OS X 10.2.1 on a 400MHz Pismo PowerBook with 1GB of RAM, but it does have one fairly new feature in its favor. It better integrates with URL Manager Pro these days since it supports menu sharing...

So that is why I have so much more free disk space
On Wednesday evening after I resinstalled OS X and my User folder on my reformated 20GB hard drive, somehow I went from having 1GB of free space to having 2.7GB free on the clean drive.
