Macworld examines email clients
TidBITS publisher Adam Engst offers and in-depth look at some of the major OS X email clients in a Macworld story: Mac OS X Email Guide. The conclusion: In Engst's estimation, the choice comes down to either Eudora or Entourage for power users, with Mailsmith and PowerMail close behind.

So THAT is what the Mail icon is...
I hate to admit it, but I didn't realize what bird graces the icon for Apple's Mail.app until I saw a blown up version of the icon in an Apple ad in MacAddict. Mail's icon clearly shows a Red-tailed Hawk - the same species that Natalie and I watched migrating and hunting by the dozens on Saturday afternoon in Eastern Washington, and the same species that greeted us on our return to Tacoma last night as it was sitting on a light pole near downtown. This weekend was marked by another 573-mile book research trip along the gorgeous Columbia River Gorge and through the damp, dark woods of the Gifford Pinchot National Forest.

Waiting for Pismo
I just called the repair status line to see where my Pismo PowerBook with its flickering LCD problems stands in the process, and according to Apple it is still being repaired. I was really hoping it would be back in my hands today...
