Econ Technologies apps updated
The people at Econ Technologies, makers of the shareware programs Portraits & Prints, TemplateMaker, ChronoSync, and ImageCaster have updated each of their programs to work better under Jaguar. For details about each application and to download the new versions click to the company's download page.I will definitely be clicking over there soon, since I want to make sure that my copy of the simple and effective backup and synchronization program ChronoSync keeps working under Mac OS X 10.2. I have been using ChronoSync to back up my User directory to a FireWire hard disk on a regular basis. So far, it works great! I should write more about my backup system...

Adam Curry on audio blogging
Adam Curry is writing about an interesting topic on his popular Weblog today:
I've been thinking alot about audio blogging today. Some interesting comments came in yesterday, including a pointer to some direct to mp3 recording software for OSX. I was so excited that I bought the software immediately, only to find out that it probably needs an update to work properly on my Jaguar upgraded system.
So for now I'm resorting back to my current sequence: Record with AudioX1.0, then convert to an mp3 file with mAC3dec.
If I'm reading a long piece and I mess up, I can always to a quick edit in quicktime.
Ofcourse none of this process is integrated into the act of blogging. It really needs to become an automated part of the process.
Now I don't think this is going to be something everyone will want to do. But it makes perfect sense for me to read other people's writing and post the audio on my weblog. This would work especially well for those longer essays that we all love to point to. Now when I point to one, I'll also give you the option of hearing me read it. A couple of those a day and you might really have something fun to listen to!
Keep the suggestions and comments coming. I think we're on to something here. [Adam Curry: Adam Curry's Weblog]
Another interesting offshoot of audio blogging would be the access it would offer to a new world of information for those who cannot read Weblogs with their eyes. How about running an audio Weblog with Mac news that could be accessed through OmniWeb with its speech recognition capabilities and recently improved playback of audio through plugin support for RealOne and Windows Media Player? Better yet, through integration with mp3 and iTunes?
This is definitely an interesting topic...

Aha! Why iChat doesn't show all users
Ken Bereskin from Apple is posting a series of items highlighting cool new features in Jaguar, and one of his posts from last night reveals the reason why some AIM users don't show up in your buddy list in iChat:
OK - the feature for today is.... iChat, an AOL Compatible Instant Messaging application that we designed to be a great IM app with an Aqua UI, free from ads, stock quote tickers and other distractions. What's been amazing about iChat is how we've introduced IM to countless people that never clicked in to it before (myself included). You can use your existing AIM screen name or your mac.com address - by the way, you need to let your Windows friends know that they must upgrade to the latest AIM client in order chat with mac.com members. The update allows you to enter screen names with @ symbols. [Ken Bereskin's Radio Weblog]
And so, the fact that some AIM users don't show in your buddy list is a known problem, and the only way around it is for your Windows friends to update to the newest version of AIM...

ChimeraKnight grabs new browser versions
ChimeraKnight v1.3. - ChimeraKnight is an AppleScript Studio application that automatically updates Chimera to the latest nightly version. No user intervention is required, everything is fully automated. Version changes: Now works on Mac OS X 10.2. In addition, this version will download the latest nightly regardless of whether the "latest-trunk" directory is updated or not. Added an option to cancel dialog when the nightly is not updated, so you can at least check the log or adjust preferences without restarting ChimeraKnight. d/l [AppleScript Info]
