Will you upgrade? Or will you hold out on moral grounds?
Derrick Story from O'Reilly Networks is likely to hear a lot of cheers for his comment sense Open Letter to Apple about Jaguar. Among the points:
- Offer Jaguar at a reduced price for all current OS X users
- Do something about Quark to pressure the company to stop holding Mac users back with their inane software development schedule (ok...the inane part is mine...)
- Make it faster
All of these are great tips for Apple, which I expect to ignore each and every one. If Apple can get away with charging the full price for OS X 10.2, it will. Should Apple penalize early adopters to OS X in this way? Hell no. But show me someone who can look at the improved features in Jaguar and then decide to stick with OS X 10.1.5 just to take a moral stand against Apple's unfair upgrade policy.
Are you going to stick with OS X 10.1.5 rather than pay Apple a full $129 to get Jaguar? If you are, I would like to hear about it. Send me your comments through the Comment link or by email.
