Coursey favors OS X over Linux..hands down
ZDNet columnist David Coursey is repeating his experiment of living with a new operating system and writing about the experience in his new series on Linux, but he when push comes to shove, he still likes OS X more for its Unix capabilities than a Linux desktop:
"If I were rating operating systems, Mac OS X would win on ease of use, but Windows XP would win overall usability (based solely on greater application support). Compared to either of these, and because OS X offers the same Unix benefits as Linux, I'd find desktop Linux hard to recommend except in very special circumstances."

No Macromedia at Macworld New York
Macworld New York Loses Major Developer. At least one major developer, Macromedia, has opted out of July's Macworld Expo. Combined with the absence, so far, of Adobe from the list of exhibitors, this could signify that the New York show's relevance is beginning to wane. Whatever the scenario, however, Steve Jobs' keynote is still sure to draw the faithful in vast numbers. [osOpinion] 5:56:48 PM comment

Dvorak: Put down the Mac like an old dog
Yes, John Dvorak wrote another scathing, desperate attempt to get attention article slamming the Mac in the latest issue of PC Magazine. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, or at least in this case their faked, overstated attempt to have an opinion, but I am sure not going to point to the article.

Just remember, just because a guy with the help of a slew of editors can string a few words together, that in no way makes his words worth more than anyone else. And this same luminary has been declaring more or less since the birth of the Mac that Apple was dying and everyone should run screaming to Redmond for the latest PC running Windows. Dvorak has cried wolf too many times to be relevant...

URL Manager 3.0 arrives
MacCentral notes that the final version of URL Manager Pro 3.0 has come to Mac OS X. The new version of the URL manager and organizer application that works with most Web browsers carries a $10.95 upgrade price for users of older versions, and it is $25 for new users. For more details about the program, be sure to check the URL Manager Pro Web site.

I am a long-time user of URL Manager Pro, and anyone who uses the Web for work will appreciate being able to organize their bookmarks in one program that can then be used in conjunction with multiple different Web browsers. This allows me to use the same bookmarks with IE, OmniWeb, Mozilla, Chimera, iCab or any other browser I am testing or using... 8:04:09 AM comment
