And this is summer?
Research for Birding Washington took us back to Eastern Washington today in a trip to the Bavarian-styled tourist town of Leavenworth and a couple of sites nestled along the eastern side of the Cascade Mountains there - a park called Blackbird Island and a drive up a dramatic canyon along the edges of Icicle Creek. The photo of Icicle Creek was taken as the wind blew rain sideways and into our faces, warming up for the serious rain that started to fall 45 minutes later.
We ended up calling our day short, leaving a rainy Leavenworth at 5 p.m. to drive up and over 4,100-foot Blewett Pass where unbelievably there was snow mixed in with the rain at this late date. Amazing. But by the time we arrived home after going over 3,000-plus-foot Snoqualmie Pass we were able to watch an amazing sunset here on the normally wet west side of the mountains!

A testimonial for Dantz Retrospect
Doc Searls writes a great testimonial to the capabilities of Dantz Retrospect under OS X:
"I got the replacement loaner G4/800 TiBook, plugged it into the dented (but working) one, started it up holding down the T key, and it came up as a firewire drive. Then I ran Dantz' Retrospect on the dented one, and duplicated the entire contentss of the dented one into the new one. Now I'm on the new one, and it's like I'm on the same box. Amazing.
