The Equinox Project: "So, why do I feel like a nature geek? I am not sure. I have been documenting the natural world around me for years, either through writing, photography or both. But even I have to admit that having a dead bird in the freezer takes it to a new level."

On a more nature-related note
I updated my Equinox Project Weblog last night with photos and writing from the last week or book research and life in general. I find I am spending so much more time playing around with Radio and updating Mac Net Journal that it is hard to keep up my daily writing in my nature Weblog. But look for some interesting photography and writing on that site in the coming months, as I flip the switch and really start digging into writing for our upcoming book, Birding Washington.

Tinderbox updated to version 1.0.2
Tinderbox 1.0.2 for making weblogging notes [The Macintosh News Network]
I really want to take a good look at Tinderbox, and it does run under Classic, but until it is a native OS X application I know that I won't use it. All of these great products from small developers need to make the leap to OS X as soon as possible if they want to remain relevant for the growing numbers of new Mac enthusiasts

BusinessWeek article agrees, Apple doesn't always play nice
Writer Charles Haddad digs into Apple's habits of imitating innovations and programs created by small software developers and then rolling them into Apple operating systems in Where Apple Doesn't Always Play Nice.
This is an interesting piece, especially for me since it cites this Web site and my comments in the second paragraph. I had no idea this was coming out...
Update: Yes, I know that Haddad in the end feels that programs like iChat are good for the Mac platform. I am not so sure I disagree with him. But I also think that bundling is bundling, whether it is done by Apple or Microsoft, and that muscling in on software categories where small developers have done all the work before Apple "discovered" the idea has to be a concern for those developers.
I wonder why Haddad's article in its online version doesn't actually point to this Web site in any way? There is no text version of the link for readers of the print edition of the magazine to find Mac Net Journal (at least that I can tell) and the online version has no link either. That is a pretty big disconnect...
