On the book research trail again, PowerBook in hand
As with every weekend right now, I am back on the book research road again today, heading south toward Olympia, Wash. to get photos and see what birds Natalie and I can find for our upcoming book, Birding Washington. Why mention this in Mac Net Journal? Well, as a writer and photographer, my PowerBook is along with me the entire way. I don't do much typing on a day trip like this, but I do use the PowerBook to offload photos from our Nikon CoolPix 950 digital camera and review them on the laptop's LCD at times during the trip. And I also find it conventient to have my e-mail respository with me in case I want to check out some obscure location that has been previously mentioned on the Tweeters birding e-mail list here in Washington.
Maybe I will post a photo from the bird watching trip later tonight. Or maybe I will hold off and end up posting a photo from the butterfly watching trip we are scheduled to make - weather permitting - tomorrow...

iPhoto, Mail and Multiple Users Reports indicate that the Mail feature in iPhoto only works correctly for the first user to login at startup. When a second user logs in, only the names of photos are inserted into a new Mail message, and not the photos themselves. Apple has reportedly responded that they are now aware of the problem and are working to correct it, and recommend using the mail photo AppleScript until an iPhoto update is released. This is interesting in light of the fact that, as found with iPhoto Mailer Patcher, the Mail feature in iPhoto is itself powered by a AppleScript in the iPhoto bundle.
