Program opens iPhoto 1.1.1 mailing option to other mail apps
iPhoto Mailer Patcher v1.1.1a. - iPhoto Mailer Patcher 1.1.1a replaces iPhoto Entourage Patcher, adds support for Eudora, Mailsmith, PowerMail and QuickMail Pro. iPhoto Mailer Patcher is a hack for iPhoto that replaces two files in the iPhoto bundle. The Mail.scpt file is replaced with a modified AppleScript that can use a scriptable email application other than Mail to send pictures from iPhoto (the other bundle file is the icon displayed in the "Share" toolbar). It appears Address Book APIs will be open for third parties
Steve Zellers: "I have every reason to believe that the APIs to access the AddressBook in future versions of Mac OS X will be public."  [Scripting News]

What does this mean for everyday OS X users? Well, with a little luck, it means that future applications - from Personal Information Management programs to e-mail applications, chat applications and anything else that needs to access a centralized contact database - could use the same address book database that Apple created for its Mail application. The idea of no longer needing to duplicate contact information in a wide range of applications is one of the holy grails of computing efficiency, and if Apple is opening up this process then it deserves credit!

My fingers are crossed that third party software developers can find useful ways to tie into this newly open database... 11:47:45 PM comment

Aha! Mozilla 1.0rc2 arrives
I am away from the home office and my high-speed connection tonight, but I see that a new Release Candidate version of Mozilla for OS X, Mozilla 1.0rc2, arrived earlier today. I look forward to getting my hands on it soon! 11:40:23 PM comment
