Speaking of chat clients...Adium hits 1.6
The third-party AIM client Adium has been bumped to version 1.6 today. The new version solidifies some of the features from previous beta releases: enhanced contextual menus, support for warning other AIM users, the import / export / downloading of buddy lists, and improved log searching. 10:09:45 AM comment

An unpopular opinion, but there is some agreement
My commentary yesterday about Apple bundling new applications with OS X, as it is doing later this summer when iChat will become the latest iApp with the arrival of the new version of OS X, drew a lot of interest. Mostly, people are not happy to hear me drawing parallels between Apple's bundling practices and the kind of bundling that Microsoft does in Windows. That point is something where I will have to agree to disagree with many readers, because in my mind bundling is bundling. No matter who is doing it, it can have a chilling effect on the market for applications that have to compete with a bundled application.

A more interesting line of discussion is how developers feel about Apple barging into their favorite software categories? If you are the developer of a popular third-party chat program and you catch word about iChat, does it spell doom for your program? Or do you look for a silver lining and hope that Apple opens up access to the Address Book and Mail so that you can do the same kind of tricks that iChat can do? 9:32:03 AM comment

It's browser update day
I am playing catch up and downloading the latest versions of Mozilla and Chimera this morning. I haven't downloaded and used any of the Mozilla daily builds since the unveiling of Mozilla 10.rc1 a couple of weeks ago, and I was at least one version behind on Chimera. It's time to see where things are headed... 8:37:07 AM comment
