No mention of OS X support for new Epson photo printers
MacCentral has a story today about Epson introducing new photographic printers. The high-end photo printers sound intriguing, but noticably absent from the article is any mention of support for OS X. Why when people report on Mac-compatible products these days do they fail to state specifically if OS X is supported? It's time to wake up and realize that people need this information...

Before you upgrade to iPhoto 1.1
I cannot stress enough the importance of backing up your files before making the move to iPhoto 1.1. I am sure that Apple has taken every precaution in testing the installer and the program itself, but it is common sense to back things up before installing new software - especially software that deals with something that cannot be easily recovered like digital images.
Safety first...
If you don't have a backup program for OS X yet, be sure to back up to CD or to another drive such things as your User folder and the Library folder at the top level of your OS X installation. And it would make sense to back up your Applications folder as well.

iPhoto 1.1 release pending
MacCentral notes the speculation about iPhoto 1.1 coming soon? As I write this, the update is not yet available on Apple's download page, but it is expected to hit the Net today.
iPhoto 1.1 is expected to add a number of enhancements to the original program, but from the looks of it, it won't support storing iPhoto images in multiple libraries. This means longer life for third-party programs like iPhoto Library Manager 1.0 and iPhoto Librarian.
As some folks have pointed out, the update to iPhoto 1.1 is available from some sites, including VersionTracker and MacUpdate, but it still is not available through the official Apple Web page for iPhoto. Being conservative with my digital assets, I am waiting for the official release from the Apple site before loading the software on my machines.
