Western Sandpiper and Dunlin
A pair of Western Sandpipers stand with a Dunlin along the shore at a place called Bottle Beach along Grays Harbor in Washington. Natalie and I took photos of these birds and flocks of hundreds of their friends as the spring shorebird migration is underway along the Pacific coast...

Birds, birds...everywhere
I am back at the computer after a day of selling our book, Insiders' Guide to the Olympic Peninsula, and watching thousands of migrating shorebirds in Grays Harbor. We met some interesting people at the Grays Harbor Shorebird Festival...and we sold a couple handfuls of books too!I used my PowerBook to create a small slide show of bird photos that I had running in our booth, making use of iPhoto. I created the slideshow on the fly from the 800 or so images in my iPhoto folder since I started using the program. Now that is useful.

icWord moves to OS X in its latest release
MacCentral noted today that icWord 2.1 is now OS X native. The $19.95 shareware program allows users to open and print Word and AppleWorks files, even if they don't happen to own a copy of either program. icWord will not allow users to edit or create Word or AppleWorks files, however...

The software lives on
StimpSoft Products Live On. - In March 2002, software developer StimpSoft announced "StimpSoft™ is being put to bed." Fortunately, for the many fans of StimpSoft products, several developers have agreed to continue development on some of the abandoned programs. Albert, a little application that can launch AppleScript scripts by sending it an email, will now be developed by Dean Davis of Weatherman fame. Thanks go to John Schilling (StimpSoft) and the new developers for keeping these great applications alive! [AppleScript Info]
This is great news, since StimpSoft created some cool software that deserved to be updated and live on. I wonder if this is why I noticed an OS X version of iHam on iRye 1.1.1 - a tool for remotely starting and running iTunes on another Mac?
