A reason to watch out for the April 2002 Developer Tools update
AppleScript Update Coming Soon. - According to a member of the AppleScript development team, "AppleScript 1.8.2 and AppleScriptKit 1.1 (for Studio apps) will be available in the April 2002 Developer Tools. We're looking into how to get them out in a form for people who don't want the developer tools." [AppleScript Info] 1:07:08 PM comment

Coursey finds the Mac too useful to live without
ZDNet columnist David Coursey set out on a one-month experiment to use a new iMac G4 as his main computer, and now three months later he doesn't want the experiment to end. His latest column in the series about the experiment, Can a Windows guy learn to love the Mac? You bet!, concludes:
But if I just want to sit down and write--and use a computer that doesn't get in the way--Microsoft Office for Mac and OS X are a powerful combination. A Mac is a perfectly credible desktop or portable system for me, even if sometimes I run Windows on it. Mac, enhanced by OS X, has a level of simplicity and transparency in operation that allows it to get out of the way and just let me work. That's something Windows never does.

Get a glimpse of Photoshop 7 tonight
Adobe shows Photoshop 7 at some Apple Stores tonight [MacCentral]

A friend of mine who is a professional photographer just received his copy of Photoshop 7, and I look forward to seeing it in action myself soon. But before I can do that, he will have to update his PowerBook to OS X - something he has been waiting to do until Photoshop and PhotoMechanic would run natively under OS X. At least one of the applications he needs is now native.... 8:11:53 AM comment

Rare Apple I motherboard goes up for bid

Microsoft decides it's time to stand up, remove the toilet paper from its shoe, and add Bluetooth to its OS: yes, they're leaving the proverbial pot in order to finally add the necessary technical support for developers (soon) and consumers (fall) to use Bluetooth in Windows. This announcement comes soon after Apple's recent release of a Bluetooth technology preview for OS X. (I've installed the preview, but I'm still awaiting the Bluetooth radio.) Both companies delayed on Bluetooth because the 1.0 spec wasn't ready for massive deployment. Bluetooth 1.1, according to many sources, added the necessary changes to make the protocol robust and reliable. Likewise, the IEEE draft of 802.15.1 allows Apple and Microsoft the security of not promoting a strictly one-industry-group solution, but rather something with a much broader ultimate base.
