Fortune likes Photoshop 7.0
Peter Lewis gives a glowing review to Photoshop 7.0 for OS X in the latest installment of the magazine. One thing is for sure, that the release of Photoshop for OS X, as much or more so than the release of Office vX will mark a turning point for OS X. I know people who will finally consider moving to OS X now that their photo editing duties can be done natively in the new operating system.

Apple offers a security update
Apple Security Update released for Mac OS X. An Apple Security Update for April 2002 has been released via the Software Update application in Mac OS X. This release includes updated components that address security issues, especially for those running servers or file sharing across the Internet. [Meerkat: An Open Wire Service]
This update doesn't require a restart, and the update is a speedy process. And, although I just suffered a spontaneous restart on my machine a few minutes ago - the second in the last two days - I think it is more related to the newest beta of OmniWeb than this recent system update.

An OS X e-mail client showdown
OSXGuide offers a brief look at three non-Microsoft e-mail clients for OS X, and the author rates Eudora highest, followed closely by PowerMail and Mailsmith.
The article shuns Entourage, like many other e-mail client reviews, but it doesn't clearly state why the author chose not to include it in the review. When I have done e-mail client reviews, I have not included Entourage for OS X because the cost to buy that program is effectively $300 or more. Entourage is not available as a separate program and it can only be purchased as part of the Office vX package from Microsoft...
