Dave Winer issues a call: Users have a stake in Fritz bill
Mary Wehmeier wrote a letter to Senator Hollings. It's the first letter I've seen from a user explaining the consequences the senator's bill would have on the vendors' products she depends on. In other words, users can't afford to be silent on this bill. If you like our software and you want it to keep evolving and improving, you have a stake in the outcome. [Scripting News]

OS X and the fragmentation caused by installing
Macintouch has a couple of critical notes today. First, be sure to note the info about a confirmed OS X bug that can cause data loss (if you try to move data using the command-key option to a drive that is too small, the data can be lost in the process).

It appears that the OS X installer is a fault in the fragmentation, and most folks are suggesting that you run Norton or another defrag tool to deal with the problem after doing an initial install

Apple move to improve the flow of LCD screens
MacNN notes that Apple uses second vendor for LCD screens. Maybe this will help improve the delays in orders for new iMacs - a situation that is sure to threaten Apple just as much as any other factor right now. It doesn't do any good to have a cool new machine that everyone wants if they can't get their hands on one...
