I just have one thing to say about the latest entry in Matt Goyer's Weblog about the assertions made at the Grammy Awards last night....Amen!
Nope, it doesn't have any direct bearing on OS X, but I enjoy music and I find what these marketers and packagers are doing to music deplorable...

Do you burn copies of your own music from CD? If you do, then you should read the latest installment (free New York Times subscription required) about the copy-proof and rip-proof CDs being forced on consumers by the recording industry. Not only will these discs not play on Macs, but they won't play on many PCs or on DVD players that are made to play CDs.
Reading this reminds me of the part of last night's Grammy Awards where I turned off the TV in disgust - when the recording industry wank was on screen raging against the illegal ripping of music and exchange of music. I don't want illegal copies of music any more than I want illegal copies of software. I just want to be able to do whatever I want with music once I purchase it. Don't tell me I cannot play it wherever and however I want, and don't tell me I cannot rip it to MP3 and play it on my home stereo system through my connected older PowerBook media center and server.

Is Palm the Next Netscape?. Even though Palm's operating system still owns more than half of the PDA market,
Microsoft's marketing engines are roaring, and the software giant is gaining ground
in the mobile OS space. Palm is fighting back with the release of version 5,
but will that be enough? [osOpinion]

ZDNet: Would you ever try a Mac? Don't count on it digs into the ingrained hurdles built into a move from Windows to the Mac OS.
What it comes down to: People like to stick with what they know. Since the vast majority of people use Windows machines in the workplace, where they are supported by an IT department, they figure that a Windows machine is the best idea for home too. Of course, there is no IT department at home. That is where the disconnect is, and it is the reason that so many Windows users I know simply hate their computers.

Jim Cheeseman from Right on Mac offers tips for limiting your exposure to HTML e-mail filling your in box with Spam. His tips apply specifically to Entourage, but similar tips can be applied to Eudora, Mail and other e-mail programs.
My strategy in dealing with HTML mail: I don't. One of the main reasons I use PowerMail is that it doesn't even deal with HTML mail. It downloads the message from the server, it displays the header, but I have to click on a widget at the bottom of the mail message that will open it in a Web browser if I want to see the HTML message. It's plain text for me, baby!
