Many Mac news sites are trying to figure out how to make ends meet as services for their readers. Some, like MacFixIt, have chosen to restrict access to content, offering a higher-level of access for those willing to pay to look at their archives, and many others are doing a combination of advertising support and soliciting readers for donations.

Dan Knight at LowEndMac offers his take on making his site pay for itself in a column today, and he references other columns on the topic while making the argument for his approach - a combination of advertising and reader support. As I start to spend more time working on Mac Net Journal I am contemplating these issues too. I haven't made any final decisions yet...Still digging. 1:24:19 PM comment

What Is The Best UPS For Mac OS X? [MacSlash: A daily dose of Macintosh News and Discussion] - This should be interesting reading for those working in offices that have either already switched to OS X or that are considering making the move to OS X. I will be reading with interest, since my office machines are not curretly on a UPS.

This also gets me to thinking: For those who do most of their work on laptops, who thinks that UPSes are less critical for you? Click here to send an email to the editor of this weblog. 9:04:01 AM comment
