A new sneaky peek version of OmniWeb, 4.1sp40, has been released tonight.

While I am mentioning OmniWeb, I want to bring up something that just pissed me off. I tried visiting another site that had been updated recently after visiting my Weblogs.com on the desktop, and instead of being able to visit the site I was sent to a page lecturing me about using a non-compliant Web browser. OmniWeb at this point doesn't support Web standards as completely as it should. Most notably, it is criticized for its lack of standards with CSS. I know this, the folks at OmniGroup know this, and many users of their browser know this. But ya know what? OmniWeb works. The page lecturing me said I should try Mozilla, which I have and use occasionally. I would use Mozilla all the time if it didn't crash on my machine multiple times per day.

The point of this post? It is fine to let folks know that they are using a non-standards compliant browser, but don't bash them over the head with it. That just pisses them off. It doesn't make me want to use another browser, it just makes me want to bash the numbnuts who sent me to the lecture page over the head with his own pompousness. 9:39:38 PM comment

OS X doesn't support async DNS lookups. Daniel Berlinger is bummed that OS X doesn't support async DNS lookups. Most Unixes have this problem, but the good news is that you don't have to use the default DNS resolver; you can use adns or something similar. [Hack the Planet] 9:19:42 PM comment
